The nationally known Callaway Gardens Resort is located in the county. The 12,000-acre resort features 63 holes of golf, a 1,000-acre hunting preserve, convention facilities, and one of the largest botanical gardens in the world. The Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, featuring more than 50 species of tropical butterflies, and the John A. Sibley Horticultural Center are located within the resort. Callaway offers year round beauty, activity and entertainment. Beginning with the Azalea Festival in Spring, followed by the Masters Water Ski Tournament and summer programs at the man-made beach, the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge Golf Tournament, the Steeplechase and the Chrysanthemum Festival in the fall, the year closes with Fantasy in Lights, a Christmas lighting spectacular.
The 500-acre Wild Animal Safari allows visitors the opportunity to observe giraffes, camels, zebras, llamas, buffalo, elk and antelopes in natural habitats. Other attractions at the animal park include a monkey house, a serpentorium and an alligator pit.
Horse enthusiasts will enjoy Big Bear Farm, an impressive equine facility set on 420 rolling acres. Having served as the training site for both the 1996 Summer Olympic and Paralympic games, this horse farm offers something for everyone -- from those who want to learn to ride horses to those who just want to watch them. Riding lessons are offered for all levels and one to two week beginner camps are available throughout the year for those 10 and up. Big Bear Farm hosts several equestrian shows throughout the year which are free and open to the public. The facility is open all year and is located one and a half miles west of Pine Mountain on Butts Mill Road, off Hwy. 27.
Cascade Falls~Pine Mountain TrailFranklin Delano Roosevelt State Park is located on Pine Mountain in Harris County. This 10,000-acre park features an FDR Museum, two lakes, hiking and backpacking trails, and warm springs famous for their curative powers. The Pine Mountain Trail, located within the park, runs 23 miles from a point near Callaway Gardens along the mountain by the park lodge, and is excellent for hiking at any time of year.
Roosevelt Stables' various trails wind their way through the picturesque F.D. Roosevelt State Park, including beautiful Pine Mountain.

Founded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1927, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation (Roosevelt Institute) today provides comprehensive medical and vocational rehabilitation services for people with stroke, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, post polio, mental retardation, learning and other disabilities. The Roosevelt Institute is located on a beautiful 940 acre campus in Warm Springs, Georgia about an hour south of Atlanta. Located at the edge of the Roosevelt Institute campus are the recently restored Pools and Springs where FDR's early hydrotherapy was conducted. Visitors can tour these facilities and learn more about the FDR - Warm Springs relationship. 706-655-5870

The Good Shepherd Therapeutic Center in Warm Springs is accredited by North American Riding for the Disabled, Denver, Colorado and offers a wide range of programs to meet individual requirements of special needs students. Horseback riding is a recognized beneficial form of physical, motivational and recreational therapy for people, especially children, with disabilities.706-655-2354
The Chattahoochee River and Lake Harding form the western border of Harris County, providing ample opportunity for fishing, swimming, boating and other outdoor activities. Lake Harding, a 5,850 acre Georgia Power reservoir, which has 156 miles of shoreline on the Chattahoochee River, draws crowds of boaters and skiers during the summer and offers excellent fishing throughout the whole year. Blanton Creek Park provides a quiet, beautiful site for campers.
